Well, today I discovered that she has designed a new cross-stitch pattern inspired by one of my favourite movies, Arsenic and Old Lace.

If you already know how to cross-stitch, or are keen to learn, there are several Halloween themed patterns in The Little Stitcher Etsy shop.
There is also a delightful pattern for a cross-stitch Vintage Witch (pictured left) that you can download for free over on Laura's blog (here).
Oh I love these, Emma! Laura has created such gorgeous patterns! I too am a non-cross-stitching Arsenic and Old Lace fan, but after Magaly's recent blog fest I am feeling more confident about picking up a needle and thread, so I might need to give it a try! :D
ReplyDeleteOh yes! After the sartorial splendour of Norman and Till's Blooming Howls outfits, I think you've successfully dipped your toe into the sewing pond, Bec! :D For cross-stitch newbies like us, I love that we could learn on smaller sections like just Morticia, or the crow on the gravestone, which would make adorable pieces on their own.
DeleteOh, I used to love Arsenic & Old Lace - I must have watched it 20 times! I love her cross stitching.
ReplyDeleteI adore 'Arsenic and Old Lace', Ms Misantropia! I was so pleased to see that Laura had added it to her designs. :)
DeleteThank you my dear Emma! I was sure that you like the design! ;) Your post makes me so happy! Spooky hugs to you my dear, and to all your followers!!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Laura! :) I squealed when I saw the 'Arsenic and Old Lace' design! Spooky hugs to you too!
DeleteI love these designs! Back when I was a cross-stitcher 20 years ago, the only commercial patterns available were variations on one of three themes: cutesy, sappy or friggin Bible verses. Glad to see that witchy sistahs are shakin' up the craft, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteI know EXACTLY what you mean, Debra! ;D Cross-stitch seems to be going through a bit of a revamp at the moment. I've seen a lot of amazing new designs out there with darkly delightful themes.
DeleteI haven't cross stitched in years (for the same reason Debra mentioned - lack of decent subject material). I've got Wise Old Witch favourited on Etsy now though! Thanks for the heads-up, Emma!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Insomniac's Attic! :) Between Laura, and Sandy from Ghostly Garden blog, I have discovered a whole new appreciation for cross-stitch lately.
DeleteYou can't beat the Classic's! Our friend " Winter Moon" sent me some cross- stitch and so did another wonderful Welsh gal a year earlier! The Universe must want me to cross- stitch! Now these To Die For patterns are tempting me ! Thank you !
ReplyDeleteCross-stitching by a cosy fire sounds perfect for your cold winters, Debi! I hope you give it a go. I know you'd create something wickedly wonderful! :)
DeleteThese patterns are so much fun. It really makes me want to get into Cross stitch again.
ReplyDeleteI've come across lots of great patterns on Etsy, Jessie! You're lucky that you already know how to cross-stitch. I wish I did. It's another thing I'll have to add to my ever-burgeoning *To Do* list. ;)
DeleteThose patterns are great. Thanks for the hook-up. I will check out her shop.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Julie! :)
DeleteOooh... so creepy cute!
ReplyDeleteGotta love creepy cute, MK! ;D
DeleteSo pleased that you like The Little Stitcher designs, she is a great designer and a lovely person! You also like to look up The Primitive Hare, an Italian designer who does some lovely spooky stuff too. Nothing complicated, simple for beginners as well as fun for "experts" LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a look at my blog for my Spooky Countdown Tree, and also this post on The Dark Alphabet. I have a feeling you will like it too.

ps glad to see some Chris Riddell illustrations down your side bar. I love his work, have you read Goth Girl yet?
I've just come from your blog, Jo, and I love your Dark Alphabet and Spooky Countdown Tree! I will definitely check out The Primitive Hare too!
DeleteI love Chris Riddell's illustrations for Neil Gaiman, but I had never heard of Goth Girl! Just googled it... Squeal! Thank you so much for letting me know! I can feel a new obsession brewing. Haha.
Of course, I'm just a guy and will likely never know anything about stitching, cross-stitching or whatever. Still, I do like the two witch designs.
ReplyDeleteI really like the witches too, Nightwind! They have that great vintage Halloween feel to them.
DeleteThese are lovely! Doesn't really entice me to learn how to cross stitch, but then again, I'm still busy learning to sew over here.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Lauren. :) So many things to learn, but so little time.
DeleteSome fantastic examples of cross stitch. It's very simple to learn cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's reassuring to hear that, Sarah! If it's too complicated, I know I won't find the time.
DeleteIt's amazing how detailed Arsenic and Old Lace and the Adams Family are. Awesome work! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, Lexa! :) There are lots of fun little details going on in both of them, aren't there?!
DeleteWow, these are amazing! I used to do straight stitch, but my mind can't handle all the crosses in cross stitch!
ReplyDelete"My mind can't handle all the crosses in cross stitch!" You've made me laugh out loud, Laura! I bet you'd create beautiful cross-stitched work! :)
DeleteThose are way cool - like early American samplers with a creepy twist. FUN!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I find so appealing about them, Lady M! They look very traditional at first glance, but then there's the creeptastic surprise on closer inspection. :D
DeleteOh, I can imagine how excited you must have been to see Asenic and Old Lace among the designs. I don't cross stitch, but was taught how to at school, and I love the way these look. Vintage, with a whisper of the macabre... <3
ReplyDelete"Vintage, with a whisper of the macabre..."
DeletePerfect! ❤ :D If you already know how to cross-stitch, Yvonne, then maybe these are the patterns to tempt you to give the craft another go. You should definitely do a cross-stitch pattern search on Etsy. I was so surprised to see the designs that are available now. :)
Those are freaking fantastic! I wish I had some decent cross-stitching skillz. Love the Addams Family work!
ReplyDeleteYes, 'The Addams Family' pattern is soooooooo fabulous, Mina! :D
DeleteOoh, I love this pattern. I'm not much of a stitcher, but it's just so wonderful to look at.
