Happy Friday! For me, the 13th is always such an immensely unspectacular day.I never believed in the whole unlucky superstition, and I've never been that much of a Jason fan, so: just another normal day in the life of Maynard ;)
Yeah, I try not to buy into the superstitions surrounding the day either, Maynard. Especially as other cultures have their own completely different ideas about what days and numbers are lucky or unlucky. On some level though, I do enjoy the perversity of embracing a day that some people have an irrational fear of, but that's just because I'm odd! Haha.I haven't seen any of the 'Friday the 13th' movies. I'm more of a supernatural horror girl than a slasher fan... although, I do love Alfred Hitchcock's, 'Psycho'! I thought I should spare everyone my sad attempt at a Jason post and instead point them in the direction of those who actually know what they're talking about. ;)
Friday the 13th is such a perfect day. I never get to bathe in the blood of sacrificed virgins as much on any other day! haha!
Hahaha. Yes, I always say that timing is everything when bathing in the blood of sacrificed virgins, Chris! ;D
I just wish the bathtub wasn't so hard to clean afterwards!
HA! Yeah, it's so hard to get good domestic help for cleaning up after blood rituals these days, Laury! ;D
I hear Bathory Contracting is great for tough cleaning jobs like that!
Yay! Happy Friday the 13th! I love the Morticia comic. Have a great -- I mean -- have a Horrific day! :-)
Haha. And a delightfully Horrific day to you too, Lexa! ;D
I love the Morticia cartoon sketch : )Today is also Roald Dahl Day, so in celebration of this and Friday the 13th, tonight I'll be watching back to back 'Tales of the Unexpected' episodes.Enjoy your day : )
Hi Winter Moon,How cool that the anniversary of Roald Dahl's birth has fallen on Friday the 13th this year. I'd imagine he would enjoy that! I'm going to head on over to your blog now to read your tribute post. :)
Happy Friday the 13th. I love the uniqueness and quirkiness of this day!
Yes, the eeriness of the day makes it special, Vivienne, and special is always fun! :D
You celebration is delicious! The 13th (Friday or otherwise) is my favorite day of the month. It's just so creepily magical, you know? I've celebrated this one by announcing All Hallow's Grim 2013... So Good, So Dark. I do hope you join the fun!
P.S. I stole one of your quotes for a bit. Couldn't help myself...
Thanks, Magaly! Yay for all things creepily magical! :D I've signed up for All Hallow's Grim! Looking forward to it!
Oh, and steal away! Haha.
Ah the ever brilliant and eloquent Morticia! I echo her sentiment exactly - so much to do on Friday the 13th, where to start? The Irish are deeply superstitious, as you know, so we approach today with a mixture of dread, terror and curiosity - what on earth is going to happen? ;) Happy 13th Emma! xo
I've been saving up that little gem of a cartoon, Siobhan! Morticia never lets me down! ❤ ;) Your country is so wonderful with its rich folklore, magical creatures, ghosties and beasties. Friday the 13th must take on a whole extra uncanniness there. I used to be much more uneasy about the date when I was younger, but then I started to worry that I would somehow bring on bad luck that way. Now I just embrace it lightheartedly as another spooky tradition. :)
I love this illustration *-* Morticia is awesome. Here in Brazil *I don't know why. They always change the name of the characters (I have that)... I love Addams family since I was a child but I called they Morticia, Vandinha (Wednesday), Tio Chico (Fester), Feioso (Pugsley) ... and I this is so annoying :/ I don't know how I'm telling you this, but I was really sad when I discover the real names, but they are awesome and I was losing it :/ But however, I love the Addams *-*nice post.Xoxo
Hi Mayara,I know what you mean about 'The Addams Family'. My husband's family are originally from Italy and the names of the Addams characters are different there too. I guess they were trying to find names that would sound funny in other languages. It must have been weird when you found out the real names though. :)
As a little kid I always checked out the Charles Addams books from the library.... We remember This one.... Have a safe and happy 13th dear Lady Emma
Hi Dr. Theda,I used to read my father's paperback copies of Charles Addams' cartoons when I was a little kid. He recently gave them to me to keep. They're my prized possessions! :) I hope you had a safe and happy 13th too!
I've absolutely forgotten to do anything special last Friday :3 I had so much to do for school that it just didn't really happen :/
Don't worry, Margaret! There's alway wonderful Halloween on the horizon. I hope you'll be able to take a bit of a break from the school books then. :)
