Amarantha and Archibald End from Amarantha's Red Ribbon by Abigail Larson |
I first stumbled across the work of illustrator, Abigail Larson, on Pinterest, and it was love at first sight! Not only is she extraordinarily talented artistically, but much of her work is charmingly macabre in theme.

Edgar Allan Poe and The Grave of Lenore by Abigail Larson |
My particular favourites are her many Edgar Allan Poe inspired works, including portraits of Poe himself, and her illustrations for an in-progress graphic novel called Amarantha's Red Ribbon.
You can see lots more of Abigail Larson's beautiful artwork on her website, at deviantART and in her online shop.
Wow! I adore these!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Laura! :)
DeleteAlso I neeeeeeed that dress!
ReplyDeleteI love the little details like the tiny skull on the back of the skirt! ❤
DeleteBeautiful art!
ReplyDeleteHi Ms Misantropia,
DeleteYes, I've been looking forward to doing a post on Abigail Larson's gorgeous art for a while. :)
nice illustrations :)
ReplyDeleteHi zombydolls,
DeleteYes, she's so talented! :)
You always discover the coolest art!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark! :) Pinterest has been fantastic for discovering really cool darker themed art.
DeleteI love Nightmares of the Alchemist's Wife, Dracula Calls, Asenath, Under the Bed ... I think I'm going to have to save a small wall somewhere for at least three of them! Now I just have to figure out what pictures to get rid of so I have enough room! :D
ReplyDeleteHi Insomniac's Attic,
DeleteI adore all the illustrations you mentioned and they would look fabulous adorning the walls of your new dream cottage in the dark woods! I want to get a few of her prints too, I'm just a little afraid to check out the shipping costs to Australia. Where's a spare sack of cash lying around when you need one?! ;)
Dig this! (Especially Poe!) <3
ReplyDeleteSome Dark Romantic
Hi Mina Lobo,
DeleteYeah, I really, really want the Poe illustration as a print!
I reblogged some of her work on Tumblr a while ago, I believe it was The Alchemist, she has such a lovely style to her illustrations!
ReplyDeleteHi Arsenic and Old Lace,
DeleteYes, The Alchemist is part of her Lovecraft inspired illustrations and they are all awesome! For me, her dark subject matter, added to her style of line work with washes of colour, is just perfect. :)
I've got to admit, this is really interesting art.
ReplyDeleteYes, her work is amongst my absolute favourites, Nightwind.
DeleteBeautiful, just beautiful. The one with Poe looks delightfully sinister (plus: kitty!), while the one with the couple looks strangely romantic (not kidding).
ReplyDeleteExcellent art!
Hi Maynard,
DeleteI know just what you mean about the Amarantha and Archibald End picture. There's something sweet and comforting about it... as bizarre as that might sound. I love, love, love the Poe illustration and the black cat makes it extra perfect! :D
I love the couple, but like you I'm totally enchanted by the Poe work. Yum!
ReplyDeleteHi Magaly,
DeleteYes, the Poe work is so captivating. I really want to have that one hanging on my wall!
These are beautifully creepy! Thanks so much for bringing Abigail's art to my attention. It reminds me of Burton's stuff. Awesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lexa,
DeleteMy pleasure! :) Yes, totally Burtonesque! The internet has been so awesome for discovering fabulous artists whom I would otherwise possibly never have heard of.
Wow, wonderful artwork. The one with Poe you've featured here is especially beautiful :3 I'll definitely check out some more of her work ^^
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the Poe illustration too, Bazinga! I definitely want that one up on a wall. :)
