  6. Boris Karloff More than a Monster, an authorised biography by Stephen Jacobs.
Lovely book about a true gentleman of stage and screen and a devoted father.
    Cheers!

  7. I can see him saying that! Have you ever watched the Boris Karloff episode of "This is Your Life"?

    It's really very sweet:

  8. Hi Real Queen,

The relationship with the "monster" endured throughout his lifetime. A lot of his real relationships didn't, apparently.

    Hi Jenny,

I bet Boris would be very happy to know that we all want to hug him!

    Hi Jeffery,

Thanks for the book recommendation. He sounds like a fascinating man. I read somewhere that he changed his name to "Boris Karloff" to spare his family embarrassment at his choice of career, although there's no evidence to suggest they were anything other than proud of him. He was obviously a complex man, and I'm interested to learn more.

    Hi Adsila,

Yeah, I love it. It's such a simple quote but has many possible layers of meaning.

    Hi Pixie,

    Totally agree!!

  9. Hi Justine,

No, in fact I don't know very much about him, but I'm really intrigued now! Thanks so much for the link!! I'll definitely check it out.

  10. Yeah, I think you'll enjoy that clip. You'll get to see the nice, regular side to him.

By the way, I watched Casanova, which was one of the other Venice movies recommended to me in my blog comments. That one was much more upbeat and fun. If you haven't seen it, try to find it! I know you'll enjoy the beauty of Venice and 18th century fashion, and that movie is a feast for the eyes!

  17. Hi Lisa,

The artwork belongs to me, but the quote belongs to Boris. I'm just borrowing it from him.
